Viscose

Stunning Silky Sheen for a Luxe Appearance.

Viscose rugs have seen a rapid growth in the past few years. The fibre is a semi-synthetic, manufactured by extracting plant cellulose using a chemical process. this is usually wood pulp, bamboo, eucalyptus, or cotton. This is what distinguishes it from polypropylene or nylon fibres, which are derived from petro chemicals. Viscose is known by many brand names such as Rayon, Lyocell, Luxcelle, Tencel, Faux Silk, Bamboo silk or Art Silk. Viscose emulates silk and has very similar properties, the fibre produces a yarn that has a high lustre, silky sheen and a beautiful luxe appearance. Used extensively in high end rugs either alone, as design accents or blended with wool. Viscose is more delicate than other fibres ( with the possible exception of real silk) and is susceptible to staining. Water/ liquid spills change the texture of the viscose, causing the pile to reflect light differently to give the appearance of a stain. Professional cleaning recommended.
