Persian Rugs

Considered by many to be the epitome of oriental interior decoration, Persian rugs have been enhancing domestic households for centuries. These rugs traditionally used sacred patterns and motif rugs that for use only natural materials traditional sacred patterns and motifs that made them part of the very fabric of tribal life and identity. The rugs that we produce are still manufactured in a family environment by pastoral nomadic tribes, giving them a degree of authenticity unequalled in any other type of temporary interior décor.

Beautiful Detail

Persian rugs are known for the intricacy of their designs and the high degree of craftsmanship which goes into their production. The Senneh is typical of these fabulous creations. It has a much finer weave than the usual village production in the area, and is made from a good quality wool pile with beautifully harmonising colours. Its intricate patterns and superb quality will make a strong focal point wherever the rug is placed. One of the busiest weaving centres is Hamadan, which lends its name to rugs that are made within hundreds of surrounding villages.

More Simple Options

Not all of the Persian rugs have such intricate patterns. If you would prefer something slightly more minimalist then look no further than the Gabbeh rugs which are woven by the Qashqai and Luri tribes people of Southern Iran. These rugs are simplistic, with a truly homespun feel. In Persian, the word ‘gabbeh’ means unclipped, so Gabbeh rugs have a very long, thick hand-spun wool pile. Unlike the intricate patterns commonly associated with many Persian rugs, some Gabbeh rugs bear much simpler motifs. A typical example of the more minimalist design is one containing four grazing animals located at either corner, inside a pale background fringed by a darker grey rim.

Regardless of which design you choose for your home décor, we would advise that you consider our hard floor anti-slip underlay for your Persian rugs. This will prevent rotting, slipping and colour transfer on any hard for, including ceramics, laminate, marble and wood. The underlay is easily trimmed with scissors and will not leave any residues on the floor. One word of caution is that over time, underlay is will become less effective. However our underlay can be machine washed to reactivate it.
