The Persian Qashqai 320x215 from One of a Kind is part of our red & ruby rugs collection. Woven in the Fars region of Southern Iran by the people of the Qashqai tribe, famous for the high quality of the rugs they produce among the tribes of that area. Hand knotted on a traditional horizontal loom in a family environment these rugs provide a charm that has not changed in centuries. The rugs are woven exclusively by the women of the tribe often with two or three generations working on a large piece. The wool is generally from their own herds which are prized for the quality of their fleece. The wool is washed in fresh river water to remove any contaminates and hand spun to create a high quality lustrous yarn. The yarns are hand dyed in small batches using natural vegetable dyes along side modern chrome dyes. A stunning example of Qashqai weaving, this beautiful one of a kind rug is available to buy in store or on line.
