Vintage Sixties designs with a urban feel and cool colours..

Mad Men rugs are machine woven on jacquard Wilton looms by Louis de Poortere using 85% cotton chenille and 15% glossy polyester yarns. Woven in a 3 mm thick flat weave construction, each piece is hand finished with reinforced corners. The Mad Men rug collection is inspired by the Mad-ison Men who were the golden boys of the Sixties, dreaming up the images of the iconic brands of the USA, Louis De Poortere has created a new collection of “Vintage Sixties” rugs. In the Griff collection an indication of pain and disorder, of the rifts and big changes like Women’s Lib, Vietnam, The Black Panthers, and May 68 but also of the creative energy of action painting in the late sixties. Cracks is a new design for the Mad Men collection. It shows a surface of cracked ice, as on the ice rink of Rockefeller Square. The Geometric, Jacobs Ladder Collection stands for the uneasy but exhilarating climb on the social ladder. It is the way the advertising industry pictures society: More, better, higher, richer … But the climb can be tricky even if the rungs are glittering.
