Rediscovered in the extensive Louis de Poortere archive.
Antiquarian Heriz rugs are machine woven on jacquard Wilton looms by Louis de Poortere using high quality cotton chenille yarns. Over a century of skill and craftsmanship is woven into each rug with multiple layers of texture, distressed areas and intricate stitching detail to give a true vintage and aged appearance. Woven in a 3 mm thick flat weave construction, each piece is hand finished with reinforced corners. This beautiful new addition to the Antiquarian Rug Collection features Palmettes in which the shape of a turtle seems to be suggested. Boughs, leaved twigs, stalks and flowers, a Heriz, distressed by age and with its origin in Azeri Persia. It's like the unexpected trove amongst the confused display at the Antiquarian's. An old rug, showing a familiar, yet almost forgotten pattern. A large central medallion, rosette shaped with a stair patterned perimeter. Available in five standard size options, manufacturer recommends professional dry clean only.
