In the late 19th Century a Manchester based firm of Oriental Carpet importers called Ziegler & Company began importing programmed rugs from their manufacturing base in Sultanabad ( now Arak ) in Iran.These rugs were based on traditional Persian Mahal and Farahan designs but coloured to European tastes.Todays Ziegler designs are made in various qualities and different locations around the world.Our Super Zieglers are handknotted by Afghan weavers around the border areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
